Question

Can I get the voluntary taxes returned that were deducted from my social security checks in my refund this year?

Only if you have a refund on your total income.  You can change your SS withholding to zero.  But if you have other income you may owe tax on some of your SS.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:
Married Filing Jointly: $32,000
Single or head of household: $25,000
Married Filing Separately: 0
