Question

Can not e-file due to a 1099-R. The State distribution is blank . How do I get into the 1099-R to put the gross distribution number into the state distribution box?

The state distribution box 16 is blank but should probably be the same as the gross distribution (box 1). The 1099-R came from National Financial Services fro Fidelity Investments.

    To clarify, was there state tax withheld? 

    If there was state tax withheld, yes the amount of the state distribution should have been entered in Box 16.
