When I enter my husband's W2 it says our Federal return will be $550. But then after I enter my SSA-1099 (disability) form it says we owe Federal $440. We've never owed before. What am I doing wrong?

When you file a joint return you have to enter ALL of your combined income----and that includes the Social Security.   And....before you ask----if you file separate returns, more of your SS will be taxable.

Did you enter the SSA1099 in the right place?

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
