Question

Do I have to list SSA1099 for 2021, funds given in error, that I returned in 2022?

I offered to send it back but they wanted to hold the next two months of benefits.  Which they did.

You have to enter the 2021 SSA-1099 in your 2021 tax return. If you repaid benefits in 2022, that will be reflected in your 2022 SSA-1099, and you will handle it on your 2022 tax return.
