Does my 1099-R in Box 5 mean its a Roth contrib. or an ins. premium? I'm in a Thrift Savings Plan.In the past 4 yrs, I've never used Box 5 in my Turbo Tax filings.

Is Box 5 of 1099-R a Roth contrib. or an ins premium? It's too vague and not both.

If you are doing the TSP it is Roth contribution in box 5.

The medical premium you pay would be on the CSA-1099R not the TSP.

What is the code (or codes) in box 7 of the Form 1099-R provided by the payer?
Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box marked?
