Solved

Due to my husband's death recently, I have not yet received his IRA distribution 1099-R form. Can I continue and add later?

Yes, you can enter the form when you receive it.

To enter it at a later date:

1.  Click Federal on the left-hand side menu.

2.  Click Income across the top.

3.  Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security and click Show more.

4.  Click Start or Revisit by IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).

For a distribution in 2017, you should have already received the Form 1099-R from the payer.  Contact them to inquire about the missing form.  If the distribution occurred in 2018, the distribution will be reportable on your 2018 tax return.

If his IRA was retitled in your name or was transferred trustee-to-trustee transfer to an IRA in your own name, the retitling or transfer is not a reportable transaction; it was neither a distribution nor a rollover.  (Some people mistakenly refer to accounts in a qualified retirement plan like a 401(k) as an IRA, but such accounts are not IRA.  If his account was actually in a qualified retirement plan and was not an IRA, the rollover of that account to an IRA in your name *is* reportable and you should have received a Form 1099-R if the distribution from his plan occurred in 2017.)
