Question

Employee Identification Number for foreign sourced income.

In the past I have used 12-3456789 as the EID for a Canadian pension that I receive from a bank. This no longer passes the check for a valid number that is done by Turbotax. I can no longer pass the check and thus cannot e-file my federal return. What value can I use in this field?

For the Employer Identification Number (EIN) field, you might try using the EIN for the Social Security Administration, which is 38-6969627. This is a common workaround for similar issues.
