Question

Filling out W-2 and I have a dollar amount in Box 18 and Box 20 is WAPFL. TurboTax does not have "Washington" as a choice in the "Associated State" Select Box.

I worked in Washington the entire time. Boxes 18-20 say "Leave blank if empty on your form." My form is not blank so I am trying to fill it in. When I click the question mark, it says you can get the state from the locality name, with the example being NYC is New York. Need help on how to continue.

It would appear that your employer thought they could put anything they want in what they thought were unused boxes. TurboTax will treat those boxes as a local tax if ANYTHING is in them. They must be BLANK.
