If you didn't submit your return, follow the steps to make the correction:

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Select Federal from the left menu
  3. Go to Wages and Income
  4. Click Deductions and Credits
  5. Select Review/Edit
  6. Click Edit to the right of Standard Deduction
    Click OK, Sounds Good
  7. Click Wrap Up Tax Breaks
  8. Click Continue
  9. Make sure that $300 is filled in and then click Continue.

Under the new provision, individual taxpayers can claim an "above-the-line" deduction of up to $300 ($600 MFJ) for cash donations made to charity during 2021. This means the deduction lowers both adjusted gross income and taxable income – translating into tax savings for those making donations to qualifying tax-exempt organizations.
