Question

Form 1099-R Box 14 A for electronic filing NY State withholdings cannot be greater than or = to gross / state distribution . yet that isnt true. How can I fix this?

Double-check your 1099-R and make sure that you have entered the information in the correct boxes. My guess is that you may have switched the amount of the distribution and the amount of withholdings.

Box 14A should be the amount of withholding and Box 16 should be the amount of distribution.

The 1099-R for state reporting is the reverse of most reporting forms where the amount of distribution is entered first and then the amount of withholding.
