Question

form 8853 P1 (Medicare Savings Account) not available until 3/31/2022 to file returns. This doesn't seem correct. The form is filled out based on a 1099-SA. I have one for myself and spouse. I have tried several work arounds including only using one

It depends. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Savings Account (MSA), then you need form 8853 P1, which is not available until 03/31. Are you sure you are not enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA)? You may have made a mistake in your initial entry and may have mistakenly mentioned you have an MSA.
