Please explain where to find the amount to enter on line 2 of form 8889. I’m understanding line 9 comes from the W2 section 12 W but I’m not understanding the difference. Thanks

Besides employer contributions (line 9) you or someone on your behalf like a relative might also have contributed. That is the amount for line 2. If there were only employer contributions leave line 2 blank.
