Question

from 5329-T eligible emergency expenses non simple should not be greater than $1000. what does this mean if I put in the same amount of distribution?

If you are trying to claim the exception of the 10% early withdrawal penalty for emergency expenses then you can only enter $1,000 for the exception and not the whole distribution.

 

Please go back to the exception screen and edit your answer:

  1. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-R”  
  2. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  3. Continue through the screens until you get to the exception screen and only enter up to $1,000 under emergency expenses.
