I am 64 and my husband is 67.  We are both on social security, recieve a pension andbI took a distribution from my IRA to buy a car.

TurboTax recognizes me as being eligible for $35k Retirement Income Exclusion (age 64/disabled) but does not recognize my husband as being on the $65k Retirement Income Exclusion (REI). I could not find any information on how to get TurboTax to recognize him as RIE. Would you please tell me how to get the software to accept my husband as Georgia RIE? I read the available documents but it does not address my concerns on getting him recognized in your software. Thanks.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go back to the personal information section and delete his birthday.
    2. Clear cache and cookies
    3. Open the program and enter his birthday again

I opened the GA return and it popped right up. It appears with an edit button under Here's the income that Georgia handles differently. The program was not picking up his birthday accurately.  The Georgia retirement exclusion is a tax break you can get when you are either 62 or older or can't work because you are permanently disabled.
