Solved

Hi, I overpaid social security tax because I worked for two LLC's, but for the same employer. I received only one aggregate W-2. How can I add the excess to line 72?

I overpaid Social Security.  I worked for two separate LLC's with different EIN's, but our employer uses Justworks which aggregates all wages/deductions into a single W-2.  Justworks people told me to put the excess on line 72 but I cannot do that in TurboTax with a single W-2.  How can I add the contribution to line 72?

If there is excess Social Security withheld for a single employer, you will need to contact your employer and ask them for a refund of the excess, and a corrected W-2.

If your employer can't or won't cooperate with you to get this issue resolved using the steps above, then you can make the changes yourself within TurboTax using the instructions below and mail Form 843 separately from your return to request a refund of the excess withholding.
