If you received a 1099-R for the distribution,

To input it,

  1. Go to the Income input section.

  2. Go to Retirement Plans and Social Security

  3. Click the Update button next to IRA, 401(k), and Pension Plans

  4. Click Add another 1099-R (or the Edit button by the one you want to change).

  5. Click I'll type it in myself

  6. Under Tell us which 1099-R you have, check the Form 1099-R box.

  7. Enter the 1099-R that you received EXACTLY as it appears on this screen.
