You need to report the 1099-R form that you received. Enter it exactly as it is on your 1099-R. The next step is to report the rollover.

To do that in TurboTax Online

  1. Open your return.
  2. Select Federal, then Wages & Income.
  3. Scroll down to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), under Retirement Plans and Social Security, select Start or Revisit to the right.
  4. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-R in 2023?
  5. Follow the screen instructions to enter the 1099-R form, or if the 1099-R is already in there,  just Continue.
  6. Answer the rest of the questions in the section.
  7. When you get to Tell us if you moved the money through a rollover or conversion, select the answer that describes your situation and report the amount you rolled over.
  8. Answer any remaining questions in the section.
