Question

How do I edit the amount I’ve already paid from my monthly pension checks toward federal income taxes?

It depends. For reporting the withholding in TurboTax, it is best to enter Form 1099-R for 2019 to capture these details.

To change the withholding from your pension for the future, your financial account adviser or the broker should be able to update the withholding per your request.

To project what your taxes will be for 2020, I recommend instead using this IRS Tax Withholding Estimator so you can get a very clear idea of what you will owe federally.

You can contact your State Department of Revenue, for their estimated tax withholding recommendations.

These are the tax brackets for 2019 and for 2020
