Question

How do I enter an early withdrawal from Roth IRA (5-year rule met) where only contributions were withdrawn, no earnings? 1099-R shows "J" for dist code.

Early withdrawals of contributions should not be taxes, only the earnings. I can't figure out how to enter this, as there is no way to enter in TurboTax that I withdrew only my original contributions. Thank you! (J is "early withdrawal from Roth IRA, no known exception.") Should the code be changed to T "Roth IRA Distribution, exception applies"? Since most of the contributions were made at a previous firm, the payer will not attest that the distribution qualified for an exception.

The code "J" is correct, as it was an early distribution. The taxable amount should be listed in box 2a. If that is blank, then there should be no tax or penalty. In that case, you may have answered one of the questions wrong after you entered the Form 1099-R.
