Question

How do I get the program to realize that 775.37 in state withholding is less than the 28,532.15 gross distribution?

The program is failing because it is complaining that box 14a on my 1099-R: For electronic filing, New York State withholdings can not be greater than or equal to gross distribution or state distribution.

    If box 14 has an amount and box 16 is blank put in the amount from box 2a in box 16.  If 2a is blank then put in the amount from box 1.

     

    Or if you imported it may have imported wrong.  Delete it and enter it again Manually.  That usually fixes it.
