Most forms that report income have a unique character that helps to describe them. A 1099-MISC is usually included in a small business, and cash receipts generally provide a description box.

 

The only other thing I can think of is receipts from some form of court action, and there is a line for description there also.

 

Since the IRS receives all of these documents anyway, they are less concerned with what it's for, and more concerned that you reported it.
