How do I recharacterize the sum of my weekly/monthly IRA contributions (from Roth to Tradional)? How do I calculate/explain the many differences (however small) between?

26 CFR § 1.408-11 describes how to calculate the earnings attributable to the amount being returned. The calculation method treats the multiple contributions being returned as if they had all been made together at the beginning of the calculation period:

When you ask you IRA custodian to perform the return of contribution, you'll indicate to the custodian the date of the first contribution being returned and the custodian will do the calculation with regard to this contribution and all of the contributions that follow though the last contribution made for that year.
