I am a retired teacher from Texas that moved to NYS 6 years ago. My pension comes from Texas. Does NYS tax all of my pension or do I get a reduced rate for being a teacher.

According to information provided by the New York department of Taxation and Finance, certain pension and annuity income is completely free from taxation.  Other types of pension income may qualify for an exclusion of up to $20,000.

As a New York resident, your pension income is considered to be New York income and it would be reported as part of your state return.
