Question

I am a retired Firefighter from Philadelphia and received a pension from the city and was not required to pay Pennsylvania taxes.Can I skip this questionnaire?

    No, don't skip it.  If you received pension distributions in 2024, you should have received a Form 1099-R.   That form has to be entered into TurboTax on your federal tax return.   Answer the follow-up questions that appear after you enter the form.  The information on the tax form (1099-R) will determine its taxability for federal tax purposes, see Is My Pension Payment Taxable?   

     

     TurboTax will transfer the income to your state return(s) automatically, but that income will not be taxable in Pennsylvania since they do not tax pension income (paid after becoming eligible to retire, and retiring).
