Question

I am retired and have school age children - they receive a benefit from my social security. Do I claim this, and if so, where?

No, you do not enter the SS that is coming for your children on your own tax return.   Someday if they have an after school job, etc and file a tax return with other income they have to enter the SSA1099 on their own tax return.
