Question

I am retired and my only income is social security. Why do I owe money?

If your only income was Social Security you do not need to file a tax return at all unless you have a 1095A for marketplace insurance.   If you do have a 1095A, unfortunately, you have to upgrade to a paid version of the software.

 

 

Or—-Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
