Question

I am retired from Civil service. Are my payments for health insurance part of my taxable retirement? Do I deduct from my taxable amount in box 2?

Generally, payments for health insurance are paid with pre-tax money and are deducted from your taxable income by the plan administrator.  Don't change anything on your 1099-R.  If you aren't sure, contact your plan administrator.
