Question

I am retired & wife works remotely. We were in AZ for 3 months in 2022 I think the software is using my retirement income for the year instead of hers only?

Arizona uses the federal income to determine the tax then applies the ratio of Arizona-income to the total tax due.

Nonresidents report federal and Arizona income and adjustments. Arizona income includes all Arizona-source income and adjustments attributable to Arizona-source income. Arizona income is then divided by federal AGI to determine the Arizona percentage.

but i think it should only be based on the amount she earned, correct? by taking federal agi they are using my pension + her earnings to calculate.

Are you filing a Resident and Nonresident State Tax Return to report your incomes?

When entering your state tax returns, when multiple states are involved, you should enter your nonresidential state tax return first (AZ).

Then enter your residential state tax return.

It is recommended to prepare the nonresident state first, because your resident state will provide you a credit for the tax you pay to the nonresident state.  By preparing the nonresident state first, TurboTax can transfer the credit information to your resident state to return.

I don't know many of your details about your income, below are some helpful articles regarding filing multiple states returns if that is what you do.
