I am self employed and receive social security. I have a 1099 form, but do not have a w-2 form

If your self-employment income was even $400 you are required to file a tax return and pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare.  You can skip W-2's and enter your self-employment income and your SSA1099.

 Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

If you have self-employment income for which you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare,  you will need to use online Premium software or any version of the desktop software download so that you can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses.
