I am under the age of 24 (22 at filing) and accidentally accepted a tax credit for the American Opportunity Tax Credit. I am unsure if I actually should have received this amount or if I actually do q

There is not an age limit for the AOC.  The AOC can be available to students who are in the first four years of undergraduate study.  If you are someone else's dependent then the credit should be on the tax return of person who can claim you as a dependent.
