Question

I did not contribute to my IRAs this year, where do I list my Roth IRA and traditional IRA that I have? I've never recorded either of those on TurboTax before.

If you neither contributed, nor received a distribution, then you may not need to report anything. You would only need to file Form 8606 if you must file one annually. The requirements from About Form 8606, Nondeductible IRAs - IRS  are:

  • Nondeductible contributions you made to traditional IRAs.
  • Distributions from traditional, SEP, or SIMPLE IRAs, if you have ever made nondeductible contributions to traditional IRAs.
  • Conversions from traditional, SEP, or SIMPLE IRAs to Roth IRAs.
  • Distributions from Roth IRAs.
