I don’t understand what amount I’m supposed to put put for my retirement exclusion

They want the amount of my retirement exclusion and I don’t know what that means? Is it my entire gross distribution or federal tax withheld or state tax ?

    First, what state are you in? Some states have a full exclusion, and some have partial (and some none at all).

     

    Normally, the exclusion is handled automatically, but it depends on the state and the type of retirement income. So tell us what you know.
