Question

I get prompted to upgrade when I try to file returns. You have Additional Tax on Excess Contributions or Deductions Form 5329.

This form is added to calculate the penalty in a variety of situations such as excess contributions to IRAs HSAs, 401(k)s, education accounts, and other accounts.

 

You don't enter it, TurboTax creates it.

 

However, I don't think that the most Basic version of TurboTax supports the 5329; hence the request to upgrade.
