Question

I have a 1099-Nec that includes the amount reported on 1099-K. How should I report that on my taxes?

If you receive both a 1099-NEC and a 1099-K for the same income,  Here are some these steps to avoid double reporting but to help ensure the 1099s match IRS records.

    1. Report Total Income: Enter the total income from both forms in TurboTax.
    2. Enter 1099-NEC per steps on this TurboTax support page
    3. Enter 1099-K per steps on this TurboTax support page
    4. Adjust for Duplicate Income:
      1. When entering the 1099-K, TurboTax will ask if any of the income reported on the 1099-K is also reported on another form (like the 1099-NEC).
      2. Indicate that the income is also reported on the 1099-NEC. TurboTax will then adjust to ensure the income is not double-counted.
    5. Enter a Negative Entry: To account for the duplicate income, enter a negative entry under (log into TurboTax and click on the link "Other Income") with a note like "Income duplicated on 1099-NEC and 1099-K." For more information, check the TurboTax support page.
