Enter the same amount that is reported in Box 2A and see if that will satisfy the program.

Okay, that got me passed the problem. Why is that gotcha there? It's now March - all those problems should be smoothed out.

If box 14 has an amount and box 16 is blank put in the amount from box 2a in box 16.  If box 2a is blank, and you haven't made after-tax contributions to the account, you can use the amount in box 1.

I've read several posts and am getting several different responses. Some are not reading the question correctly first.

OPM Office of Personnel Management (gov) sends out a 1099-R that DOES NOT HAVE A BOX 16.

    It has 1, 2a, 4, 5, 7, 9b, 14, 15, and a second 14, 15.

Yes, I have state taxes in box 14. Yes 15 has the state and number.  AGAIN no box 16.

Answers are to enter Box 1, others saying box 2a. (which mine are different amounts).

And TT should have by now put a help button on this page.

So, any answers would be appreciated. This may cause discussion to get a certain answer.

@TaxTime-Again    If box 14 has an amount and box 16 is blank put in the amount from box 2a in box 16.  If 2a is blank then put in the amount from box 1.
