Question

I have a 401k. Does that count as a retirement plan? Also I was on long term disability last year so does that count as third-party sick pay for box 13 of the W-2?

Yes, a 401K is considered a retirement plan.  This info is on your W-2 from your employer and TurboTax picks it up when you enter or upload your W-2 for your 'Retirement Contribution'.

If you received Long Term Disability from a third party (such as an insurance company) they will also send you a W-2, which will probably have Box 13 checked.

If the W-2 you received from your employer does not have Box 13 checked, don't check it in TurboTax.
