Question

I have a dormant section 1231 non-recaptured loss. I am retired and I don't plan on using this loss. However, TurboTax will not release my 2024 taxes without resolving?

TurboTax left me on "Check this Entry" with no way to delete the dormant carryover.

    You may be able to find the carryover loss listed in your forms and delete it.

     

    Follow these instructions:

     

    1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return

    2. Choose Tools

    3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links 

    4. Look for the loss carryover form or worksheet in the list and delete it

    **Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post**Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on "Mark as Best Answer"
