I have a retirement checks I get every month and I pay taxes on that sum. where do I get to claim the taxes

The taxes that you pay can be entered using the steps below. Please note, however, that you should have form 1099-R reporting your retirement and often the tax withheld is listed in box 4 of that form. If that is your case, all you have to do is enter the form 1099-R into TurboTax exactly as it appears.

To enter tax withheld not reported on forms:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions & Credits
  3. Other Deductions and Credits
  4. Select Estimates and Other Taxes paid
  5. Select Other Income Taxes
  6. Select Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099

If you pay estimated, quarterly taxes, here is data entry:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions & Credits
  3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other taxes Paid
  4. Select Estimates
