I have a retirement plan through my employer. Would that count as IRA or 401(K) plan? and can I deduct my contributions through 2017 year when I file this year?

You should have a code in Box 12 that is for the retirement contributions through payroll....a Code D, E, F, or S maybe?

Just enter the W2 as its shown, DO NOT ENTER any contributions anywhere else on the return.  The W2 covers it all.
