Question

I have a roth distribution (code Q) however Turbo software keeps asking questions about RMD status on a Roth qualified distribution

    Please make sure that the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box isn't checked on your 1099-R entry:

     

    1. Click on the "Search" on the top right and type “1099-R” 
    2. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
    3. Review your 1099-R entry
    4. Continue, on the "Did you miss a Required Minimum Distribution...." screen select "None of these plans failed to withdraw the RMD"

     

    Please note, all users 73 or older will get the RMD question at the end of the retirement section.

    The IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box has no meaning on a code-Q Form 1099-R.  It does not need to be marked and is not normally marked on a code-Q Form 1099-R.

     

    It seems doubtful that TurboTax is asking about any RMD with regard to your Roth IRA.  Perhaps TurboTax is asking if you have any traditional retirement accounts that require RMDs.
