I have an IRA that I have not taken any distrubtions but Tutbo Tax keeps asking for th kind of distrubtion what code do I use?

Did you receive a 1099-R in the mail? This is the form on which IRA custodians report distributions.

The distribution code is in Box 7.

If you did not receive a 1099-R, then somehow TurboTax thinks you did. Try the following:

*** Desktop***

1. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

1. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

2. delete form(s) 1099-R (if any)

3. continue with your return.

***NOTE*** if you had a real 1099-R, you will need to go back and add it.
