Please follow the steps below to enter a Canadian retirement distribution:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
  3. Scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security" and click "Show more"
  4. Scroll down and click "Start or Edit/Add" next to "Canadian Registered Pension Income

To enter any foreign taxes paid:

  1. Click “Deductions &Credits” on the top
  2. Scroll down to “Estimates and Other Taxes Paid” and click “Show more
  3. Select "Foreign Tax Credit"
  4. Continue until you get asked what type of income this is and select "passive income".
  5. Select "Canada" for the country.
  6. When asked for other gross income-Canada Indicate "Canadian RRIF then the amount of the pension"
  7. Continue to the "Foreign Taxes Paid - Canada" screen and enter the amount as "Foreign Taxes on Other Income". Enter a date at the bottom of the form as when they were paid.
