Question

I have two defined retirement pensions from California. Are they exempt from taxes in Alabama?

    It depends, if they qualify as payments from a Defined Benefit Retirement Plan in accordance with IRC 414(j), they would be exempt from Alabama tax.  You can click on the link to see if your plans are on the list.
