Question

I'm disabled & getting ins payments. I was forced to take my 403B but the IRS says its not taxable but is part of my income. Tell me why I have to pay additional taxes?

If you took an early distribution from your retirement plan, that is, before you turn 59 ½, you'll generally have to pay a 10% early distribution penalty.

However, those who are totally and permanently disabled can qualify to get an exception from the 10% early distribution penalty for all distributions.  You will still, however, owe regular income tax on the distribution.

But I'm 62 and totally disabled and the 403B firm already took out Federal & State taxes. Why am i paying even more on my tax return?
