Question

I never received a retirement distribution in 2022 & it’s not letting me file my taxes because it’s saying the Form 8915F-T hasn’t been finalized. How can I fix this?

Did you have a distribution in 2020 because of Covid and requested to have the distribution reported over 3 years?

If not and you did not have a distribution in 2022 then delete the Form 8915-F and any Disaster Retirement Distribution worksheet shown in your return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen

Click on Tools

Click on Delete a form

Form 8915-F is used if you were adversely impacted by the coronavirus or affected by a qualified 2020 or later disaster. It replaces Form 8915-E beginning in 2021.

In prior tax years, Form 8915-E allowed you to spread the taxable part of the distribution over three years. This distribution schedule is no longer an option with Form 8915-F, but you can still report prior-year distribution amounts on your 2022 return.
