I paid my full RMD for 2024. Why am I getting a tax for not distributing a portion?

If you could clarify with more details, we'll try to help. Did you check the 'IRA' box on your 1099-R entry? Did you take your RMD from one account, or over several accounts?

If one account, try choosing 'all of this distribution was RMD' and enter the RMD amount on the next screen.

Turbo Tax changed this year. When it asks about the RMD it is only asking for that one 1099R. You need to enter the amount in box 1 on that 1099R for the RMD, not the total RMD for all.
