I RECEIVED 2 1099 FROM SOCIAL SECURITY ONE ON HUSBAND TILL MAY THEN MY OWN 1099 TILL END OF YEAR DO I ADD THEM TOGETHER OR DO I HAVE TO ENTER SEPARATELY

RECEUVED 2 1099'S ONE ON HUSBAND AS WIDOW FROM JAN - MAY THEN ON MY OWN SOCIAL SECURITY FROM MAY - DEC.  HOW DO I ENTER INFO  TWO SEPARATE ENTRIES  BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT SOC. SEC. NOS.

Did he pass away in 2016?

N0  he passed in 2004 I started collecting widow benefits 10 years ago.

The two form SSA-1099's received, do they both have your social security number on the form?

YES MY NUMBER IS IN BOX 2  AND BOX 8 ONE IS MINE AND ONE IS HIS.

If box 2 of the Form SSA-1099's received have your Social Security number shown, then add the amounts shown in box 5 and enter the sum in the TurboTax program SSA-1099.

To enter your Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

Or enter social security benefits in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to social security benefits
