My options are self employment, farm income, hobby, lawsuit settlement, medical waiver payments that qualify as income, or income that should have been reported on a w-2. My best guess is to show it as hobby, but I am very unsure.

Since the payment is associated with your job, it should be reported as income that should have been reported on a W-2 form. You will see that option when you enter your Form 1099-NEC in TurboTax.

I am now being told the 1099-nec was in error, and a 1099-misc is being sent, which is in line with what I had researched about strike pay

In the section where you enter your Form 1099-Misc, you will see a screen that says Does one of these uncommon situations apply? to which you should choose This was Strike Benefits:

It will appear as other earned income on your tax return.
