Question

I received a pension distribution from former employer , they said they were filing the taxes on my behalf. What do I need to report on my personal tax filing?

For any distribution you received in 2023, you should have received a Form 1099-R; that is the form you must enter to report the pension distribution.   Where do I enter a 1099-R?

If you have not received it yet, contact your employer or the pension administrator to have them get you a copy so you can file your tax return.   When did you receive the distribution?  If it was in 2024, you won't get the form until next year to report on your 2024 tax return.
