I worked for the USPS and received $37531.00 from the Thrift Savings Plan while I lived in New Jersey. I received 15,888 from the Annuity established with the Office of Personnel Management while living in North Carolina

Since you moved during the year, you will report your retirement income to each state based on your part-year residency in each state.

The federal law prohibits any state from taxing pension income of non-residents, even if the pension was earned within the state.

This means that even though you earned the retirement income as a NJ resident, once you left the state, you are no longer required to report any retirement income in NJ after the date you were a part-year resident of NJ
